Ferris In Focus 11.1.23

On this week’s episode of Ferris in Focus, we begin with an important reminder about school bus safety within Big Rapids. Next, our reporters head around campus asking students what their personal biggest “ick” is in this episode’s edition of Ferris Asks! We are then shown a delicious recipe for salted margarita bars in the segment Mealtime. We then look into the Professional E-sports Production program followed by Kaitlyn Anderson discussing her burning love for the movie The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Finally, Jiliann Moore gives us a tour of her house before our show ends with a look at young pups Eleanor, Pebbles, Whybie, and Max.

Big Rapids Life

This “Big Rapids Life,” focuses on the importance of bus safety to the Big Rapids Public Schools and what they do to increase and maintain the safety of transporting students to and from school every day. The Big Rapids school buses are equipped with amber lights that alert car drivers when the bus is coming to a halt so they can stop. If oncoming drivers disobey these lights, the buses are also provided with cameras that can take a picture of the car, the driver, and their license plate, making it clear that Big Rapids Public Schools do not mess around. Better make sure to follow the rules!

Ferris Asks

In this week’s edition of “Ferris Asks,” we look at what students’ biggest ick is.  Students have all kinds of answers to this question, from guys who drive trucks to scrapping a bowl with silverware, icks range all over the place.  The interview with the students showed just how many icks a student can have, and just how each ick is different from the next.  Some students have one ick while others have many, and no two icks are the same.

Mealtime

You can learn how to make salted margarita bars on this episode of “Mealtime.” This delicious sweet and salty snack takes nine simple ingredients, after only a little bit of time baking plus cool time you are greeted with a tasty dessert or even snack!

Program Spotlight

During this “Program Spotlight,” we take a deep dive into Professional Esports Production. The gaming industry in general is more challenging than most think. The most common thing that comes to mind when they think of game streaming is Twitch, little do they know there is way more to it. In fact the building has it set up where all ten monitors are able to stream to the main TVs. According to senior Cole Clark, he chose this major because he loves e-sports and has been watching and playing them almost all his life, as for freshman Liam Joyner even though it was a far trip from his hometown he knew this major was for him once he read about it since Ferris was one of the very few schools who offer such a unique program! As of right now, Assistant Professor Adam Antor doesn’t think there are any other colleges or universities that offer this exact program or with as much equipment as Ferris has. There are spectators who are able to see what everyone is using, a technical director, audio, and two people explaining play-by-play for each player! Being put in this program it allows people to experience hands-on experience which gives students the experience they will have in real life once they graduate. Make sure to look into e-sports if you’re interested in running events, coaching events, or producing them this is the program for you!

My Favorite

In this edition of “My Favorite,” Kaitlyn Anderson explains why Hunger Games: Catching Fire is her favorite movie.  The Hunger Games series is based on the best-selling book series by Suzanne Collins. Hunger Games is a series of games where 12 districts send competitors to fight to the death.  Catching Fire has past winners fight each other in an anniversary event. But as Kaitlyn explains, the best reason to watch Catching Fire is due to how cool the main character, Katniss Everdeen, is.

College Kids Cribs

This week we get to explore junior Jiliann Moore’s crib! Obviously one of the most important things that is featured is her trampoline, following that she shows off her lovely painted shed. As we move to the interior of her house we are greeted by her adorable dog Elenor, while also showing off her famous picture wall featuring everyone who has ever been in her home! As she moves to the kitchen she shows off her chalkboard which she changes per season with new drawings and her oldish stove. Since all the girls in the house have their own rooms of course that means Elenor has her own room. Apparently, this house is the one to be at! Then we go to the living room and Jiliann shares a few of her favorite memories she’s lived through in her place. Lastly, we are shown her bedroom where the magic happens, of course, that means lots of mirrors since what girl doesn’t like looking at themselves? Plus she shares about how frequently she has painted her room over her three years living there.
